The Chief Executive of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Godwin Edudzi Tameklo, Esq., has called on industry leaders to deepen collaboration, embrace innovation and support strategic reforms to strengthen Ghana’s downstream petroleum sector.
Speaking at the 2026 Downstream Petroleum CEO Breakfast Meeting, Mr. Tameklo noted that while the industry faces challenges including global market volatility, financing constraints and the energy transition, Ghana remains well-positioned for growth through sound policies, political stability and stronger stakeholder engagement.
He highlighted key initiatives by the Authority, including the rollout of the 24-Hour Economy pilot programme across fuel stations, depots and refineries, ongoing efforts to improve road and operational safety, promote green business opportunities such as EV charging infrastructure and solar energy, and strengthen financial and regulatory reforms to enhance industry sustainability.
The Chief Executive reiterated the Authority’s commitment to maintaining fuel supply stability, safeguarding product quality, combating illicit petroleum activities and fostering a business environment that encourages investment and sustainable growth. He stressed that the future of the downstream petroleum sector depends on continuous dialogue, mutual trust and a shared commitment between the regulator and industry players.
He concluded by inviting industry stakeholders to participate in the 7th Ghana International Petroleum Conference (GhIPCon 2026) and the Ghana Downstream Awards & Gala Night, describing the conference as Ghana’s premier platform for dialogue, innovation and investment in the downstream petroleum industry.
